The Devil is in the Details

How often do you study the pictures on product packaging? If you’re like me, you glance at the graphics and then turn the package over and read the ingredients.

For example, I have two cats that love Temptations cat treats. I’ve been buying Temptations for years. A quick trip down the cat food aisle, I toss a bag or two of Temptations into my shopping cart. I’m aware that there’s a cute kitty cartoon on the package, and I have a pretty good idea of what’s in the treats, but, it wasn’t until yesterday that I took a good look at the pictures on the packages.

The kitty isn’t so cute, after all. He’s a naughty cat, luring and attacking his prey. Those devilish escapades on the Temptations package raced past me like a mouse trying to scurry away from . . . well . . . you know!

That’s life. We’re in such a hurry that we miss the details, and that creates a problem— because the devil is in the details. Satan can be hiding in plain sight, and we don’t see him.

The bible warns: “Watch out for false prophets! They dress up like sheep, but inside they are wolves who have come to attack you.” Matthew 7:15 CEV

In today’s world there are many false prophets. On the outside they look innocent, but if we study the details of their actions we might find them deceitful and cunning.

So, get in the habit of noticing the details. You never know, Satan might be hiding in plain sight.

I noticed something in an ad for a television show just before its first episode and decided NOT to watch it. I am sensitive to certain issues to which the world seems to cater.
